Ms Frances Adamson
Acting High Commissioner to the United Kingdom
Frances Adamson is a senior career officer with the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade. She has been Acting High Commissioner in London, since 3 March and previously was Deputy High Commissioner which she has been since July 2005. She also served as a Counsellor from 1993 to 1997.
Ms Adamson was Australia's unofficial representative in Taiwan from 2001 to mid-2005 when she headed the Australian Commerce and Industry Office in Taipei. She has previously been assigned to the Australian Consulate General in Hong Kong (1987 to 1990) and Australia's Permanent Mission to the United Nations in New York (1992 General Assembly session).
Canberra assignments have been in the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade’s Office of Trade Negotiations, Executive Branch and North Asia Division. In 2001 she was promoted to First Assistant Secretary.
Ms Adamson holds a Bachelor of Economics from Adelaide University. She is married with four children.
