DUTY STATEMENT
In accordance with Workplace Diversity and Industrial Democracy principles.
Under the direction of Security Supervisor perform the following duties:
1. Occupy strategic points during the day to ensure security of the building.
2. Receive visitors and contact relevant officer who will escort visitor to appropriate office. Search visitors and their bags. Issue and retrieve visitor and temporary passes.
3. Respond to queries from the public.
4. Maintain keys and arrange issue and collection.
5. Monitor CCTV system.
6. Work shift rota as required.
7. Conduct patrols and nightly check of all security cabinets and safes in areas authorised (as and when on shift rota).
8. Receive telephone messages and emails outside of normal working hours and bring them to notice of supervisor (as and when on shift rota).
9. Maintain Occurrence Record for each shift.
10. Assist distressed Australians outside normal working hours and refer as necessary to Duty Officer (as and when on shift rota).
12. Ensure correct dressing of the building.
12. Conduct external patrols.
13. Other duties as directed.
SELECTION CRITERIA
A. Effective oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
B. Ability to comprehend and comply with instructions.
C. Ability to use word processing equipment, databases and computer networks efficiently; knowledge of Microsoft Word essential.
D. Ability to work with other members of a team or with colleagues – flexibility, reliability, adaptability and accuracy.
E. Good timekeeping and the willingness to do shift work.
F. Capacity to deal with members of the public in a courteous and effective manner.
G. Desirable – Ability to obtain a security clearance to Secret
Under Australian law, persons with British citizenship or dual Australian/ British citizenship are not eligible to hold and Australian Security Clearance.
