Visa evidencing (visa label)
No label required
Most clients do not need a visa label attached to their passport. Your visa and passport information is held electronically. When you check in to fly to Australia, the airline staff will electronically confirm that you have authority to travel to Australia prior to you boarding the aircraft.
New passport
If you have changed your passport since your visa was granted you must advise us of the new passport details so we may update our records. You can do this by completing a form sending it to the office that granted your visa.
The following is required:
• Completed form 929 - www.immi.gov.au/allforms/pdf/929.pdf
• Certified copy of the new passport bio data (photo) page.
• If your name has changed, provide certified copy of the name change document (e.g. marriage certificate, deed poll etc).• Copy of your old passport bio data (photo) page if available.
• If your citizenship has changed, provide evidence of this change (e.g. a copy of the letter from the relevant authority advising you of your new citizenship).
• If your old passport with the visa label was lost or stolen provide a statement outlining the circumstances.
If your visa was granted in London, you can scan these documents and send by email or post them:
Email: london.cc@dfat.gov.au
Address: ESC, Migration Branch, Australian High Commission, Strand, London WC2B 4LA
Obtaining a visa label
Few clients require a visa label, your case officer will advise if you need one. If you are advised to obtain one at the London office the following is required:
• Your passport with at least 1 unused page so we have somewhere to place a label.
• Your phone number, email and postal address details in case we need to contact you.
• A copy of your visa grant letter.
• If your old passport with the visa label was lost or stolen provide a statement outlining the circumstances.
• If your name has changed, provide certified copy of the name change document (e.g. marriage certificate, deed poll etc).
• If your citizenship has changed, provide evidence of this change (e.g. a copy of the letter from the relevant authority advising you of your new citizenship).
• Clients in the UK should include a PRE-PAID self-addressed Special Delivery silver pouch for the return of your documents. You should keep a record of the return registration number for tracking purposes. This office will make separate arrangements for the return of documents to clients in of Ireland, however such clients should enclose a self addressed envelope to ensure their passports are returned to the correct address.
Send your passport by secure mail (Special Delivery silver pouch recommended for clients in the UK) to:
Visa Evidencing Unit
Migration Branch
Australian High Commission
Strand
London
WC2B 4LA
Once your passport is received you can expect a turnaround of around 3 to 5 working days. Clients in Ireland can expect a longer turnaround because of additional postage time.
