Under previous law all foreign nationals wishing to marry in the UK had to apply in writing to the Secretary of State for a 'Certificate of Approval'. On April 4, 2011 Parliament approved the Remedial Order to abolish the 'Certificate of Approval' scheme. This ended on May 9, 2011.
As UK marriage laws are subject to change, we recommend that you seek information directly from the UK Border Agency.
